Crude Palm Kernel Oil (CPKO) is a light yellow edible oil extracted from the kernel (seed) of the oil palm fruit, distinct from crude palm oil (CPO) which comes from the fruit’s fleshy mesocarp. It is rich in lauric acid, and other saturated fats, similar to coconut oil, CPKO is a feedstock for various products, including soaps, detergents, personal care items, margarine, and certain food products, and can be further processed through fractionation or hydrogenation.
