IRON ORE - PELLETS

Agglomerated iron ore fines shaped into hard, spherical balls by pelletizing and indurating.

The iron is usually ground to a very fine level and mixed with limestone or dolomite as a fluxing agent and bentonite or organic binders as a binding agent. An iron ore material in the form of round ball granules, produced from concentrate. The pellets may be fluxed or non-fluxed depending on their base-to-acid ratio (basicity).
